Wire grill brushes have a known failure mode: bristles break off, stay on the grate, and end up in dinner. This scraper removes the risk by removing the metal. It is a solid piece of first-grade beech, finished in food-grade mineral oil, with an edge that rides along the grate and shears off residue. Sized for Traeger 20 through 1300 series grills and similar grates, it actually improves with use.

Why it is built this way

Four notes from the workshop that shaped it, node by node.

Beech Instead of Bristles

There is nothing on this tool that can detach and hide on a grate. Beech is a dense, tight-grained hardwood that takes repeated scraping across hot metal without splintering - the entire tool is the cleaning surface.

Grooves That Grow In

New, the edge is flat; after a few sessions it develops grooves that mirror your specific grate spacing, your pressure, and your angle. The tool custom-fits itself to your grill and cleans better each month you own it.

Cut for Popular Grates

The working edge is dimensioned for Traeger 20, 22, 30, 34, 850, and 1300 series grills and grates of similar gauge. Run it along hot bars after cooking and the burnt-on residue lifts in strips.

Oiled and Ready to Work

The beech arrives finished with food-grade mineral oil - no lacquer, no paint - so incidental contact with cooking surfaces is a non-issue. A decorative routed pattern on the handle side makes it presentable enough to hang by the grill.
